Cabergoline and Swelling
I see nobody has answered you yet so I googled “cabergoline and ankle swelling”. If you do this you will see ankle swelling is often a side effect. Hope this helps and you get this sorted soon.
Thank you so much for replying! I see the side effects are really bad and I have been having swelling for a few months. My doctor stop the cabergoline for a little bit to see if the swelling and other side effects go away. I was just curious if anybody else had that issue and how long it took to resolve. Thank you so much for replying I really appreciate your time. Have a wonderful day
I don't know whether you'll see this or not - a belated response. I was just reading through some past posts.
If you were having problems with Cabergoline I was wondering why you were prescribed it at all. Presumably, since this is an RLS site, it was prescribed for RLS.
In which case, it isn't appropriate. Although a dopamine agonist it isn't recommended for RLS, it's main use is for hyperprolactinaemia. Since it affects the pituitary gland it will cause some oedema (e.g. ankle swelling).
If it was for RLS and it was stopped I hope it was replaced with something else more appropriate and hopefully not a dopamine agonist.
Hello thank you for responding. I was taking a cabergoline for a prolactinoma. The increase my dose too high and I developed RLS symptoms. it seems like I developed a lot of symptoms from them increase my medication. but nobody knew what was causing those symptoms and all those late nights up at night searching the internet for help, I found a study where a woman in Europe had taken the drug and it caused similar side effects of anxiety and panic attacks. After looking further into the drug profile I noticed that I was having a lot of the side effects that the drug causes. I've been off the medication for about 2 weeks and I'm trying to see if my body will go back to normal.
