It's used in energy drinks to stop the jitters so I've been trying it for the last month, 2 x 500mg capsules early evening and crawling feelings duration reduced drastically but not totally gone yet but getting more sleep than I have in years. Legs still very active in daytime but that may be habit as no accompanying crawling.
Also does anyone else think Statins were connected to onset of RLS?

Statins knock out Co-enzyme Q10, which is essential for cellular energy. RLS is associated with reduced cellular energy due to the lack of iron and therefore a degree of anoxia.
I would think that anything that reduces energy to the mitochondria still further could be very bad news.
If you take statins following a heart-attack, then take as much CoQ10 as you can afford.
If you are on statins as a preventive measure, then change your diet and exercise in an attempt to alter the lipid profile, so that you can stop the medication. And take CoQ10, we all make less and less as we age.
It is not the gross amount of cholesterol that matters, particularly in women, it is the type and amount of each. Several recent papers have demonstrated that women with the highest cholesterol, with a good lipid profile, live longest.
But as statins are a multi-billion dollar industry, you may not hear that much.
Here's a useful, and erudite, article in The Lancet summing up the findings of roughly 300 studies on the effect (deleterious as well as beneficial) of statins:
Hi OJ I take Taurine at night to help me sleep. It is a good supplement and actually has a crucial role in many aspects of good health, such as your heart health, cognitive function, vision and hearing, to name a few.7 Here are some of its primary roles in your body function
Helps maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance in your cells
Helps regulate minerals like calcium in your cells
Essential in the formation of bile salts, which is need for digestion
Supports your overall central nervous system function, as well as your macular health
Regulates your immune system health and antioxidant function. The supplement I take also besides B vits, zinc, C, D, E and L Tyrosine as it is a precursor to Dopamine. I agree with Parminter about statins - we need cholesterol for so many functions because the body uses it to: build the structure of cell membranes. make hormones like oestrogen, testosterone and adrenal hormones. help your metabolism work efficiently, for example, cholesterol is essential for your body to produce vitamin D. Statins are a con unless you have severe heart disease. You could have high cholesterol but your arteries could be completely clear. The body uses cholesterol like a bandage - if you have high inflammation you will find the body will lay cholesterol along those areas of inflammation so yes you can get cholesterol in your arteries but the key is reducing inflammation and eating a low inflammatory diet. Omega 6 vegetable fats like sunflower oil, seed oils are pro inflammatory and are actually implicated in heart disease. Stick to olive oil.
If it works for you, and you can get the pure taurine, great. I wouldn't recommend people drink energy drinks just to get the taurine though. The sugar or artificial sweeteners ae likely to do them far more harm than the good the taurine does.
