Just wondering if anyone else got their RLS post surgery? Hip replacement 10 yrs ago and I have had RLS ever since. Can't seem to pinpoint what set it off- assume low ferritin but did not lose alot of blood. Just wondering if anyone else had any similar experience.
Low ferritin- has been 10, now a whopping 20. I have also been told low folic acid, low manganese, low vit D. Doesn't matter how much iron I take, nothing seems to move on the blood test.

I was guessing it might be the morphine. Trying to figure out how never had it before (except occasional as a child and in 3rd trimesters) and then suddenly a week later have it daily. Who knows if my ferritin was that low before surgery or not. Just can't seem to get that # out of the 20s
Taking iron orally is a slooooooooow process. But, unless your ferritin is below 9, they do not like to do infusions most of the time. And, even if you get your ferritin up, it is no guarantee. Mine was 6, had 3 infusions, 1 week apart. Got mine up to 152, and it did not help me one bit. And, I assume you mean magnesium? Some people say it helps them, but it is best for leg cramps, which is not RLS. RLS is neurological, not muscular.
No actually meant manganese. I was able to contact someone who did a study as well. Very unusual to have a manganese deficiency but they also think linked in some way. How discouraging that your iron level did not help!! Sorry to hear that
