Unfortunately since writing that previous post my leg went crazy. I should have expected it really. Coming off mariprax is not easy. I may take a painkiller now as nothing else seems to work. I havent slept all night so tomorrow will be horrible

You poor thing. I really feel for you. Hope the pain med works and you get sleep. Coming off mirapexin is truly awful - but definitely worth it. You are taking back control.

I feel like a real failure, I went back o to mirapex as I was like a zombie from lack of sleep. Im on only 1 tablet of 0.18 a day which I cut in half and take half mid morning and half at around 7.30 pm. It works well. Ive stopped caffeine and limit sugar. Does wine affect everyone as I only have an occasional glass and I really enjoy it. Eglimark is right, what can I switch to ?. Katerina thanks for your advice. I will contact the doctor

You can try pregabalin. It takes time to work.Getiing off mirapex will be hard.I was on the same dose with you but augmented. At first i went back to mirapex exactly because of lack of sleep but i realised i should come off it.

Hi Katerina, how long had you been taking mirapex and how did you realise you had augmented.. Is it when the dose is not enough?

Please can someone explain augmentation as Im not exactly sure what it is. I know its when the medicstion starts making the rls worse but how do you know this becausr I wad told to increase the dose if it gets worse

in reply toMemmy

Memmy i have replied to you in another post where you asked me about your dosage and i have explained to you about Augmentation and what you would need to do. :) What you dont do is increase your dose regardless what you have been told to do. Doctors dont always know about Augmentation or how it affects people or how to treat it when it happens

Augmentation is when the symptoms come earlier and earlier in the day and they are worse.Furthermore they affect other body parts such as the arms. The usual mistake we all do is to increase the dose.Dont do it.

Ok I am trying to come off mirapex, down to 3/4 of the 0.18 tablet every day. Im having hardly any symptoms so I think the gbd oil is helping. I know the rls probably wont go away but can anyone tell me what I can take if it flares up again. Is tramadol and lyrica the same thing. I dont want to be taking strong medication if I can avoid it. Im 68 and have had mild rls all my adult life but on mirapex for about 4 years when it seemed to be keeping me awake at night. I alternate between ambien and lexotanil for sleeping but I still wake up at around 4am. I know my problems are small compared with most sufferers. Oh yes I have stopped wine completely and I think that has helped. I have an appointment with the neurologist on Friday and I need advice as I dont think he knows about augmentation. Thanks everyone. This site has really helped
