Hey,

My consultant is thinking about putting me on slow release patches. Does any know of these or have any information??

They are a dopamine agonist and its better than the others as it has less side-effects and augmentation takes longer to develop. They can be quite effective but be careful your GP doesn't increase them too high 2, maybe 3mg tops and if that is not working or things are getting worse you would need to come off them.

PLEASE READ THE SIDE-EFFECTS LEAFLET CAREFULLY. This is a potent drug and should be well researched.

All that said it works quite well and I know it helps me, (even though I need other drugs too).

That's positive to know. I'm on 264 micrograms of pramiprexole at present but the doctor spoke about this. Should I swap??

What extra meds are you on?

I take Targinact 40/20 and the patch sometimes I take tramadol too. I had swore off dopamine agonists after having a horrendous time on Mirapexin. I am going to go ahead and say that that dose would be WAYYY too high, are you sure on your decimal point?

For me the Prami is a much more toxic and troublesome drug than the patch and although I am planning to try and come off it soon - I do miss it when I forget to take it.

Considering I experience withdrawals, have developed tolerance and I need the drug to function I would qualify as one in many peoples book! :)

I have had them for about a year. There is some advice about moving the location so they are never in the same place for 14 days and in my experience it is well worth doing this. Hope you get on with them!

I would be very interested to know where you people live who have patches because my GP in Newton Abbot Devon told me that patches aren't available in my area. I am trying to find a suitable alternative to prami and I am finnding Ropinerol ineffective - although I gave only be taking it for a week.
