What is the overall consensus from the forum regarding the success of the Neuro patch for the treatment of RLS. I see it mentioned and discussed quite often in this forum, however, I find it somewhat rather strange and peculiar that not one doctor, (GPs, Sleep Specialists, Psychiatrists, and the many Neurologists that I have also seen), that not one of them have bought up the Neuro patch as a form of treatment for my RLS.
I have to wonder if it is unavailable in Australia

For me it worked great...for awhile and then stopped with augmentation setting in. What I realised after getting off it was that it was clouding my mind quite a bit also.
In my experience opioids are by far the best line of treatment with them working better and having less side effects.
They worked well (in lower doses) for me. I’m having some trouble with them now, but that’s probably because I’m on a rather high dose. I would ask your doctor, but it could be that they just aren’t available in Australia.
If you do go on the, just be aware of developing a cloudy mind, difficulty finding the right words, and a lower energy level.
I'm on the patch and I never knew that about cloudy mind and words I thought that was down to the menopause 🙄 also my doctor told me about having regular eye tests which I never knew either could effect you
I found them great but, like Bettyboop45 I considered (and probably still do) that the cloudy mind was down to my age (75) After several years and after going from 1mg to 2mg and then seeming to need a higher dose because of the symptoms spreading to my arms and body, I came to realise mainly from this site, that I was undergoing augmentation and needed to slowly reduce the patches unti I was completely off them. I’ve heard from this site that I will be able to reintroduce them when my receptors have sorted themselves out. In the meantime I’m taking Gaberpentin, which unfortunately is not totally coping with the symptoms.
I am not positive that the patches are the thing causing my mind to cloud and some of my higher thinking processes to slow down, but this started happening not too long after I got on the patches. So, I just put two and two together.
I am on 1/2mg of Neupro patch (1mg cut into two). I had no relief with that small dose until I added Targin (Oxycodone +Naloxone 5mg-2.5mg). I have had a wonderful few weeks without any RLS. I know at some stage I will start augmentation but I will enjoy this relief from RLS while it lasts. Neupro patch is available in Australia.
I am in the US and currently doing very well with gabapentin. A few years ago I was prescribed the patch but when I went to pay the cost was $300.00. Yes, medical cost is sky high here. Luckily gabapentin is inexpensive.
I was prescribed gabapentin but have been afraid to take it due to developing a dependency. I was on Mirapex for many years but had to keep increasing the dose. These last two years my symptoms became unbearable. I do not sleep. I read about augmentation and discussed this with a doctor. The doctor changed me from Mirapex to Neupro patches. The dose is quite high...6mg. I know I’m just taking more of the same and not getting relief. My iron levels are almost non existent. I’m seeing a hematologist tomorrow to discuss why and what to do about it. I’ll be curious to see if raising my iron levels have any effect on my rls.
