Does anyone here live in Canada and has been able to purchase the patches? If so, can you tell me where you got them, and how much. They probably are not covered by medical insurance if they are not FDA approved in Canada.

Neupro patches
Hi, i see no one has answered you....atho i cant say i can help either. I am not sure if the patch is available in Canada.. I hope you can get an answer from somewhere....or someone.
I'm across the street (in Detroit) and they are available here at the local drug stores. If you're in the Windsor area it wouldn't be too far. I would imagine if you had a scrip for them you could get it filled - will check today since I have to pick mine up. Not cheap though - $900 (US) for a 3 month supply
Thanks Cathy, my only other question is -- do they work for you??
To all the others who responded - thanks. I was not clear in my message -- I knew
they were not available in Canada. I asked my doctor as soon ask they were approved in the US. I was just wondering if anyone was able to acquire them elsewhere - like Cathy said - in the US and how much, since I'm sure my insurance won't cover them.
For me they are an absolute miracle!! They are horribly rough on my skin and sometimes I scratch till I bleed but have gotten good advice here on how to improve that. I can sit through a movie, church, tv, dinner, and SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! I have been using them since 2007 and have not had to up the dosage. They take a long time to kick in, but once you're on a schedule it's heaven!
They do not work for everybody though. Will let you know what the pharmacist says later today.
Ah right, i get it now what you meant. I use to patch and they work for me. Altho like Cathy has said they dont for everyone, I hope you can pop across into the US and manage to get some to try out.
Good luck...
Didn't realize my pharmacy closed at 6 and I didn't make it in time. They open at 10 tomorrow. Will make another attempt. Sorry.
Per the pharmacist @ CVS - you need to find a doctor with dual licensing, or get a doctor in the US to write the scrip. I'd be willing to discuss with my neuro who is very cooperative and understanding of this problem. They got me discounts so I "only" had to pay $782 for 3 months of 4mg. That works out to $8.69/night of blissful sleep. I've been using the 3mg and going to try to stretch the 4mg to 48 hrs.........
The pharmacist said she'd try to get you discounts even though you're Canadian (I can say that 'cause I'm half Canadian myself) Feel free to e-mail me @ mcws@juno.com if I can help in any way. I'm a believer.
Hi. I live in Canada and know for a fact that the Neupro patch is not available in this country, unfortunately. I have asked several doctors about them. Just recently, I had an appointment with a neurologist who also told me the patch is not available here. By the way,
my doctor sent me to this neurologist in order to find out 'what caused the RLS'!! He measured the nerves and muscles in my legs. It showed some pinched nerves in the lower back, legs OK. He then suggested ( with some excitement ) that I take Quinine (don't know how to spell it), which I have read many times, and been told by a surgeon, that it is a med. to stay away from as it sets off the RLS!-----Good thing we have this forum!!! I have learned so much from it. Thank you all who give such wonderful help and advice!
See reply above (?) to jfward2012. If you're in the Windsor area we're not far - just across the river & north of Detroit! Worth the drive if it makes life easier. I'm willing to do whatever I can to help others get Neupro! It has been a life saver for me. Let me know if I can help.
Gee I think I'm beginning to sound like an advertisement for Neupro!!! Maybe I should get them to pay me
Cathy, you are indeed a very lovely person, going out of your way in trying to help a fellow sufferer, even tho they are across the river in Canada. I hope the plan works....
As of April 2nd, Health Canada has approved the patch. Don't know when it will be available at the pharmacies though. I tried Shoppers Drug Mart and they said to ask again in a months time. If you want to access the article try this link. CathyS was kind enough to send it to me. I'm waiting to get my "Nightwalker" newsletter from the RLS foundation in the US, they usually have all the updates in their issue.
Hi bambrick, its a shame that the patch isnt available in Canada, has anyone said why its not been approved there...?? I am also glad you refused the quinine as it wont help your RLS in any way shape or form...lol It doesnt make it worse, just doesnt work for RLS. Lower back problems do seem to have an affect on RLS.
Hello, just noticed your MSG about living in canada and not being able to get the patch I also live in canada and the patch became available I am starting it tomorrow, it was just over 100.00 for 30 patches at 1 mg. and my insurance did cover it.
Have a good day
Carol
