Hi anybody reading this, in my experience I could not try anything else because I have tried it all .no amount of vitamins magnesium or healthy eating or excersise will make a difference to Rls as I am proof .cause all my life I've had severe Rls ,I don't smoke, very seldom dink and do excersise ,I work and am on my feet for my job ,I do not have pain in any way and it's never going to be solved as far as I can see because in my opinion doctors just see it as a minor problem because they do not really want to know what it's all about or really take it seriously how if affects a persons life when they have it so bad.

If the Dr's took time to see what the effects of RLS do to a person, (constant exhaustion, Insomnia and the resulting low moods, etc) maybe they would be more likely to do something! This is such a debilitating condition it is a disgrace so little is known about it.

hear hear!! I wonder if there is a registered charity?

In my case i have Primary RLS, and have also found nothing i have tried works except meds. Its my genes that has been passed down to me from my father and they need to find a way to correct the defective genes before i get any peace.

Hi Jeannie- sorry to hear you're still suffering.

Have you trid different drs? You work in a hospital- that might be a good place to start. Pippins2 has a list of rls friendly drs in UK - maybe you could pm her?

Did you check out the meds I mentioned last time- Pregabalin/ Gabapentin or Tramadol. If you print out some of the articles or the NICE protocols re medications from those sites and bring them to a dr then you should get action.

There are plenty of effective medications for restless legs - its just a question of finding one that works for you without too many side effects.

Don't lose heart, Jeannie, it will take time and persistence but you will get through this.

Good luck.

Hello jeannie

Why don't you ask your GP for Roprinol I take one every night and they are a godsend. You need to take them about fifteen minutes before you go to bed

I am grateful that when I was at my lowest ebb being so ill lots of hospital admissions and changing medication, that my rls was actually almost non-existent. If not I do not think I would be here now. It would have broken me completely. I am much better with all my ailments properly medicated and under control. Just as well because it's all I can do to cope with the rls as it is now finally have it more or less under control due to information on this forum. As long as I take my tramadol on time it is ok. Doctors were no help and it was the forum that gave me ammunition to show them. So thank you all.
