Hi patmac,

Yes, I am afraid it is listed under Medications to Avoid on the RLS-UK website. :(

Hey patmac, how are you? I certainly hope that it is not the case but I have to agree with Kaarina. Zoloft, being an antidepressant should help but I am not sure there is any correlation there. I do know that benzos and opiods, especially opiods, have clinical studies proving their effectiveness even though they may be hard to get a hold of due to their addiction history. I personally have found that both help to a great degree in combination with Requip (ropinirole.) Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.

I believe that Trazodone is " safe " and will not worsen RLS. Mirtazapine ( Remeron ) will not worsen RLS for most people.

Mirtazapine worsened my RLS more than anything else. I took some when I didn't have RLS every evening, but it was a surefire way of starting it – take a Mirtazapine tablet, one hour after it would be starting to work nicely but then, oh, RLS symptoms as bad as ever I had them at the time. (I believe it's something to do with the way Mirtazapine takes sugar out of the blood, so you end up swallowing vast amounts of carbohydrate to try and boost your blood sugar level and get a satisfied dopamine feeling back again.) I had no problem with trazadone in that respect or fluvoxamine.

Sorry to hear that ironbrain. Mirtazapine unfortunately does not suit all RLS sufferers, as I mentioned.
