Thanks for the responses, both. Comforting in the sense that the pain was concerning me after years of being able to swing out of bed feeling rested! I've just joined a local gym with the aim of strengthening leg muscles so as to be able to manage these night exertions a little more comfortably.

Well done on joining the gym! As we said before the morning achimg may be due to PLMD that you suffer from.Always best to get any pain checked out with a medic though as a precaution.
