I`m on 50mg of Levothyroxine a day for hypothyroidism, & according to the leaflet that comes with the tablets, you can`t take iron with them. Iv`e read that taking an iron supplement can sometimes help with RLS, so is there any way I can take extra iron without interfering with my thyroid meds?

Iron & levothyroxine.
you would have to ask your doctor on that one. The thyroid meds are very important for you, so you can't mess with them. My cousin has had all kinds of thyroid issues, and if iron will mes with the meds, then better to stay away from it. Also, ask your druggist. They know more than the doctors do about meds.
Omg I am on levothyyroxine but didnt know you couldnt take iron with them! Will have to find the patient info sheet out and check thisthanks
Ho done a bit of checking and apparently iron can slow absorption of levo and they need to be taken at least 4 hours apart so as levo normally taken in morning I will take iron in evenings, Hope this helps
I too take Levothyroxine. I take my thyroid meds in the morning and iron at night.
I have taken thyroxine for years. I do not take Iron [or Calcium] within 4 hours of Levo! It will affect absorption. The same apparently applies for taking acid suppressants.
Hi thanks for replies just shows I should read my med patient info leaflet properly! Thyroid uk advice is take levo and iron as far apart as possible
Sweetheart I think it's magnesium that helps RLS. Hope this helps. xxxx Mitzi
