Antihistamines, in general are very bad for us RLSers, so i would say, no dont take them, and it will need to leave your system before you rls calms down, what antihistamine did you have ??

Thanks talulla. It is Chlorphen I am going to stop them asthe last 2 nights have been beyond awful

i had the same when i took them

hope you feel better soon, i go sit in a hot bath, that seems to help a lot

I had a severe allergic reaction to a "Rheumatoid Arthritis" drug.

I was put on Benedryl at the max dose for 2 weeks and then I

had to switch to Clariton for an additional 5 days.

My legs were not taking that well. I was given a prescription narcotic

to counteract the problem. It worked very well for me. I was dog

tired and very much out of the game of life for the entire first

2 weeks. Being out of it doesn't mean that my legs would behave

all darn night but I slept a whole lot better than I do without the

drugs. I was very crabby and irritated by the littlest things while

awake.. (My poor husband and children!) I had to make an

effort (strong effort) to keep my mouth shut everyday..I felt

like whaling on everyone.

Poor you I know exactly how you are feeling. This is a horrible disease but am glad to hear the narcotic drug allowed you to sleep.Drugs for RLS are trial and error so keep going till you find the right one . In the meantime feel free to moan as it relieves your feelings and remember there are always people here to listen to you. Take care

Antihistamines, diphenhydramine (Benedryl) or others are will know to make RLS worse, which I just think you found out. IT has nothing to with your pramipexole, the antihistamines would to the same thing, probably worse, if you were not taking ANY meds. Lots of us have nightmare stories about anti-h's. See Drugs and Foods to Avoid on rlshelp.org and go the treatment page. Your eyes will be opened and you have to become a label reader and a question asker anytime a doctor wants to give you a different med. IT is basically the most important single thing you can learn for Treating RLS, is what to avoid, and this includes over the counter allergy meds and OTC sleep meds. IT is the one thing we should all know, print it out, and show your doctors. That is the only way I got anywhere. I made "awareness" folders for all my doctors and handed them out, so they had NO EXCUSE not to know. ;)
