Graded exercise therapy can cause ME patients serious harm: surveys show that hundreds of patients — including children — report worse symptoms after graded exercise therapy. Some become housebound or bedbound, for years.
Please help us stop MAGENTA, and all trials of graded exercise therapy.
thank goodness someone believes that it does more damage than good.20 years ago (I used to be athletic work hard & play hard) I was told to exercise more, gradually over a two year period my body just gave up,all the strong painkillers in the world didn't help, the DR's still thought I should push myself,l felt I had let everyone down as I couldn't even walk let alone exercise & the chronic pain was relentless 24/7 .Long, long story short I am still bedbound, about 85% of the time & totally housebound for the rest. The chronic pain never lets up and that's just the cream on the cake as the other symptoms of this cruel disease just keep growing on and on. I believe 100% that I wouldn't be as bad as I am now if I hadn't followed the Dr's orders. I have no illusions of grandeur I know I am never going to recover, this is my lot. It's important for people who have been diagnosed with M E or CFS to know this as I believe this will hinder there recovery or even worse they may not recover!! Then trying to cope mentally with all this is not an easy thing, most days it's darn right impossible.. I sincerely hope that the medical profession is more educated these days as I wouldn't wish this outcome to happen to anyone through"Medical Ignorance" it's not exactly a new illness that thousands of people have, this has been about for many a year. The people who have this dire disease need the medical folk to be kind, understanding and educated so we feel we've been listened to and understood. Not left feeling we're a nuisance and a pain in the butt and somehow making all these delightful symptoms up!!!
Against all evidence that showed harms, the most recent of which meassociation.org.uk/wp-con... showed a very different outlook for anyone using the recomended treatments.
