I lapsed on a recent holiday to Sardinia. After seeing the prices I thought, ah sure what harm could one be?
The problem was I had to buy 20.
Each day I smoked more and more.
Finally I ended up with a pack almost a day.
We arrived home last night.
Out of habit I lit one this morning.
It made me feel light-headed.
Rather than saying I'd finish the final five in the box, I ceremoniously threw the box into the wood burning stove.
Hopefully that's the end of my stupidity.
Hi Leopold, sorry to hear you slipped up but lots of credit for burning the box🚭💪
You’re back on track and you’ve got this. Well done🚭👌
Well done on getting rid of the last cigarettes ... I think you have proved your a non smoker.
Hi Briarwood and everyone. I just joined the group today as I am in the weight loss group and we are doing Stoptober there as well and someone kindly gave me a link to here.
So here I am. More appalled and ashamed of my smoking than being over weight and that's saying something. However, I do see this month alongside lots of other people giving things up as a very positive opportunity for me to quit.
I have tried so many times, this time I will use patches and an inhalator. Starting tomorrow 1st October.
So many reasons for my quitting but high on my list is, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and as a respiratory condition my ENT specialist is very keen I stop, also and this is so disgusting I can't believe I am sharing it tbh, despite cleaning my mask daily and prepping my nose with saline spray in the evenings it is turning brown and that's clearly the smoking. I also am having my teeth sorted out at the moment and I just cannot go back to how they looked before, so now is the time.
Wishing everyone a lot of strength and fortitude, we can get through it. Nice to be here
Marie
Hi gintyc and a very warm welcome to Quit Support🙋♀️
Thankyou for sharing your reasons for quitting, your health is the most important thing and I’m so glad you’ve joined us. You’ve taken the first step and we’re right here with you. Wishing you the very best and we look forward to supporting you every step of the way. Be kind to yourself and stay determined, you can do this🚭💪🤗xx
Yeay! You've found us gintyc, a warm welcome from me too.
I was a smoker for most of my adult life, if I don't count my teenage years, when I didn't have enough cash, that's over 50 yrs Of course, like most smokers,I tried to quit but I never seem to manage it. This time, with Quit Supports help, I've just celebrated 6 smoke free years.
Read Allen Carr, use NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) but most of all when you get the shakes, the cravings or begin to waver click quit Support and have a read. You can even have a moan, whatever you need there's always someone here.
Remember, it's never easy to quit but it’s easier with a little support 🚭💪
Hi Tabby and thank you so so much. I am still struggling to get through a full day and have absolutely been berating myself over it. I am still trying though and will definitely try and get my head around making sure I stop for good. So appreciate having here to come to, I have really just buried my head in the sand the last week and hopefully I can get there
Hi gintyc, youre very welcome. Please don't berate yourself that just makes you feel useless. You're not useless, you're getting to grips with a horrible addiction.
I suggest that you try to see the positive side, eg I managed to get to lunchtime smoke free, or I enjoyed a drink without having the usual puff. Think about it hun and if you turn your negative sentences into a positive version you'll see that as each day goes by it's becoming easier for you.
You're very welcome to read and join in with any of the posts on QS. I found that helping others, by encouraging them, to be extremely cathartic.
You can so do this 🚭👏xx
