Hi Msdabney way to go on 29hrs!!! You have made if through he first day. Quitting smoking is a very stressful and draining process. Your body is going to really want that nicotine.

If you feel you need a bit of help there are many effective nicotine replacement therpay methods out there. I used zyban for a couple weeks then a patch for another week in a half.

This was my 5th time quitting in 10 years and so far so good.

Have you made a list of reasons why your quitting and put it somewhere?

Exercise is a great way to keep yourself focused and sweat out those chemicals. But make sure your hydrating too.

I also found mindfulness helped me alot in the beginning. I used an insight Timer app. It really taught me to focus on my breathing and to center myself.

Quitting smoking is not an easy thing to accomplish. But you have made an excellent decision joining this group. People here are amazingly supportive. And it helps alot when you can relate to someone else.

Keep the faith and stay strong day 1 is done!

Thank you yes I been smoking for 14 years and I needed to stop I felt like if I kept smoking I wasn't going to be here to see my kids get old and I was smoking almost a pack a day and my husband still smoke so it's hard when I smell it on him ot makes me want one

Yes I also quit cause of my kids. They helped me this time cause they are older and more vocal now about how much they hate smoking. As hurtful as it was to hear them say you stink your making us sick. It was a wake up call. And I totally get it my husband also still smokes.

He uses mouthwash after a cigarette but oh yeah I can smell it on his clothes. For the first week I kinda kept to myself and he was very understanding about it now I smell him and I'm like yuck. I still enjoy the smell a bit unfortunately when I walk past a cigarette. But the stale smell on someones clothes turns me right off smoking cause I don't want to smell like that.

Welcome to quit support. Well done on deciding to quit smoking. Its not easy but its possible and well worth it. The first week is always hard but after 3 days the nicotine will be out of your blood stream. Your body is now working hard to rid itself of all the 4000 plus toxic chemicals from tobacco. Also your brain is used to routine of smoking ,which you have to try and change.

Please look through the pinned posts (to the right or bottom of the page) there is a lot of really good information there to help you.

I will assign you your progress badge and add you to our wall of winners.

Please feel free to ask anything that your unsure of.

Look forward to supporting you. :) xx
