Hi, lots of people suffer from breathing issues, block sinuses etc. when quitting. This is part of the healing process as your lungs are busy getting rid of all the rubbish that we've been forcing in to them. I'm sure you've probably tried it but perhaps when you have an anxiety attack you could try a meditation technique where you breathe deeply through your mouth and focus only on slow and deep breathing. I found loads of useful techniques on you tube which really helped to calm my own anxious brain. Whether it's just a placebo effect or not it did get me to focus and calm.

I hope you find something that helps as you are doing so well 😊

But is it normal to have this 5 weeks after quiting?  Just is miserable....  I can't breath in my nose....  I can slowly breath out of it....

Such a miserable evening, waiting for a response on is it normal at 5 weeks...

I am on dreaded google looking this up since everyone is asleep and COPD keeps popping up and I'm scared.....  Like really scared.....  I'm a 13 year pack a day smoker..

....  I am also freaking out about lung cancer as well........  I wish I could just have my lungs checked completely to rule all of this out......  I am miserable.

Wish I wasn't dumb and picked these awful things up.....

You know whats insane?  As a kid I met the decendent of Phillip Morris USA and he is a big big big anti smoking advocate, he gave up the company to save lives and I met him and told him how I was never going to smoke again at 18 and here I am at 30 going thru this....  I am a idiot...

Yes it's normal AAG at 5 weeks to feel like this unfortunately☹️

To put your mind at rest I suggest getting a breath test at your Doctors.

You are NOT dumb and you're not an idiot either, we have all been addicted to nicotine😱

It's a very hard journey right now but please remember how well you're doing. If you get a bowl of hot water and wrap a towel round your head, you can try to inhale the steam. Central heating can really dry out your sinuses and getting some moisture back in can be helpful. Olbas oil is really good to add to the water too.

As our lovely Lily has said, have a try of the relaxation techniques and try to focus on slowing everything down.

Quitting is possibly one of the hardest things we have to do but you ARE doing it, please be patient and all this will pass🚭😴

Thank you, Its been a miserable day today.  I appreciate it alot.  I mean it.  Lily did help but I didn't put that I was 5 weeks in, I thought most side effects stopped at a month......  I thank you and Lily both.....  One day at a time.....

Hi AAG, your doing so well and our bodies are just paying us back for sticking crap in them for such a long time 😟

It does get better but you may experience symptoms of quitting on and off for a while. For some it lasts longer than others.....🙀😟

If your worried about anything go and get yourself checked out.

5 weeks quit is fantastic 😊😊🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Hi. I've got the same symptoms and had it for years both when I smoked and even now in my quit time. I don't have the panic attacks now but have done in the past. I put it down to a sensitive nasal passage. In Winter my central heating affects me and in Summer it's Medium to High pollen count.

The good news is its manageable. When it's really bad I spray my nose with sudafed but don't spray more than 3 days as there can be a rebound effect. In between times I  use a nasal spray called Sterimar and can be used upto 6 times a day. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Ray.
