To help a craving pass - Breathing Exercise (1)

Report

Cravings lead to irritation and sometimes panic, causing the quitter’s mind to speed up. When this occurs, concentrating becomes hard. Using a deep breathing exercise is an effective way of calming yourself down.

This exercise can be done anywhere from sitting down in a chair to waiting for a bus. Follow the simple stages described below;

With your mouth closed and shoulders relaxed, inhale deeply and slowly to the count of eight.

As you breathe in, push your stomach out.

Hold your breath for the count of four.

Breathe out slowly to the count of eight.

Repeat the cycle five times

DO NOT OVER DO IT – STOP IF YOU FEEL DIZZY

Good luck Sky :) :)

Yep day 7! Last night was such a struggle. I was jumpy, cranky and felt like I'd licked out an ashtray! So I went and relaxed in bed!! Feeling much better this morning tho. I've been for a looooooong walk and enjoyed the scent of the rain forest I walk thru!

You're right Sky we will hang in there!!!! Wtg on 2 weeks!!!!! :)

Hi sky and well done with getting 13 days under your belt and at this time of the year too. :) Like Pete says, shouting those pesky cravings out the door really helps. Just come and rant on here cos that's what it's all about! Good luck, Andi :)
