Unfortunately yes. I stopped in January and would love a cig. Once you get to about 3 months things start to improve a little, so not long now, just hang in there. You've done the hardest bit so well done for getting to 10 weeks.

Hi Teddy08, Well done on reaching 10 weeks thats brilliant. As Sinfree has said it does get better so hang in there. Main thing is to keep busy and distract yourself from old Mr Nic. :)

15 months quit, and occasionally i think, i want a cig. The moment passes as quickly as it enters my head to want one. I suppose it's because of all the years i smoked, the brain probably hasn't registered that i've quit.

Hi lanemorph I know exactly what you mean , I too get the odd moment even after 19 months. Like you say, it soon goes thank goodness. :)

Yes teddy08, I certainly did still want a puff at that stage. We have to remember we had a very strong addiction to fags, and if someone tells me they found it easy to give up I am pleased for them but for the majority of us it's a really hard thing to do. Please be careful though I gave up nasty nic for 6 months then my dad died and that was it I found myself in the shop buying fags. I smoked for 4 months but am now not smoking again almost a month now. I really wish I had never started again. Keep going you are doing well.

Hi Teddy08, welcome aboard our online stop smoking community :-)

It usually takes 12 weeks or so for your nicotine receptors to down regulate and so this is what is causing you to feel as though you still want to smoke. I wrote up a post a while ago about the receptors... Hang on a mo whilst I dig it out for you :-)
