Does anyone have advice to help with runny and irritable eyes?
Hi Victoria, my husband has the same problem,we havent found an answer yet,so would appreciate any help also.
Watery eyes are quite common with PSP. It is actually called dry eye by the medics as the blink reflex is compromised and slower than normal. The surface of the eye dries so the brain acts to flood the eye.
My wife is prescribed Hypomellose drops which helps to keep the surface of the eye moist and reduces the problem to a degree.
Regular eyedrops are useful ask you GP to prescribe. There are also eye sprays available from chemists which a lot of people use and find helpful. If the eyes become infected then antibiotics drops may be necessary.
Hello, My mum has Psp among other things. Mum has a hay fever tablet most days as this drys up the drip that runs down the back of the eyes/nose/throat, Which also lessen's the cough.
Hi Victoria...my husband Frank had eye plugs in quite a while ago now & he also has Carmellose Sodium eye drops whenever his eyes dry too much. They don't seem to be quite as red & irritable as they used to be. I use the drops first thing in the morning & always after he's had a shower.
Take care & try to keep smiling. Love Hazel B xx
Hi,
My Dad has the same problem. Will let my Mum know about the eyedrops and keep you posted to see if they work.
