My husband was diagnosed by a Neurologist as having Parkinson’s disease in July 2021. The diagnosis was changed in December 2024 to PSP as there were symptoms with his eyes and vision, and falling backwards very frequently. Yesterday he his chair to the right side. Today is much worse. Is this a condition of psp?

My psp spouse is suddenly leaning to the right. He cannot straighten up his body in his wheelchair. He says there is no pain.

Yes this is very common. You will need to use cushions to help prop him up. We found that being tilted back with feet up helped to avoid this and was more comfortable.
Hi, yes, agree with Messier. Definitely something that happened with my hubby as the condition progressed. We used cushions to wedge him in his chair and sometimes towels under the leaning side to prop him up. Also, depending on what kind of wheelchair you have, adding a supportive cushion should help a bit - the usual soft/canvas seat bottoms don't offer enough support.
Hi, I’m a PSP sufferer myself and know how this feels. I’m fighting the need to have support, (the less I submit to symptoms, the better, I feel) but I try always to sit as far into the right corner of my wheelchair as I can for the support I can currently obtain from putting my elbow on the chair arm. It sometimes hurts my side (I feel ‘folded’ at the waist) but it helps with the leaning. Hope this makes sense
yes this related to PSP. It is one of the symptoms. My wife has just developed the same in the last few days, it can also change to leaning to the left. We are just learning to manage it. District Nurse advised informing OT. X
Ruth has a L-shaped support that attaches to the back of the wheelchair by Velcro - which is designed to stop her leaning that way......
