That does sound suspicious to you doesn't it ?? If not, it definitely should !! People who put out lies and scams in the media should be prosecuted ! Scams and lies that are online have unfortunately become commonplace. If you have Google on your phone or some other search site , you can always enter key words, questions, or entire topics and you'll be able to find out pretty much whatever you want to learn. Look up "Nicotine as treatment or cure for Parkinsons or dementia" and you'll be able to read or have someone else read the info for you if your vision is impaired. Make sure that any information you locate is coming from a reputable source ! Regarding that so called doctor you referred to , there's no reputable medical source who would claim anything so preposterous. In investigative studies , nicotine has not had any positive effect on any of the neuro degenerative illnesses in people. It's been noted that for whatever reason, smokers have a decreased incidence of Parkinson's disease when compared with non-smokers . Though nicotine was found to have a somewhat neuron protectant effect with experiments on monkeys and rodents , there was no positive effect found with humans. Of course there may be some future treatment found where nicotine might be utilized , but at this time, that is not the case. If you're able and motivated, you can look up what research is going on and what treatments have been found to be helpful in the case of just about every disease entity out there. You can also consult the PSP and Parkinsons organizations, both national and local for answers to your questions. Most of these organizations also have representatives who you can speak with directly.
I hope that you have some friends and/or family, along with good medical practitioners who can be helpful and good company as you deal with whatever comes along !
I'm sure that if I was in your situation I, too, would be looking for any solution to my health problem. Sorry, you're being mislead. My husband smoked up until 6 months before he passed and only stopped because he could no longer hold a cigarette. The nicotine didn't cure his PSP or FTD.
