we got it for my husband with Staysure. Good luck. x

Hi

We had a holiday to Menorca booked prior to my husband being diagnosed with PSP in May. We had insurance with Staysure and I rang them to advise of the PSP diagnosis and they referred to the underwriters and refused all medical cover for my husband as it is a terminal diagnosis. I tried a few insurance companies and all said same thing that they would not cover my husband for anything medical. However I keep seeing people saying Staysure covered them! They definately wouldn’t cover anything medical fir my husband. We went on holiday anyway and fortunately it went smoothly.

We always used Staysure. Went several times to South Africa with them. It’s certain countries that they don’t like. Obviously USA and surrounding counties, but also Spain and all its islands seem to be a big no no. Try another country and you may be lucky. A word of advise though, if you do manage to get insurance, don’t tell PSP that you are going, I never did, sometimes it took several days before it found us!!!

Sending big hug and much love

Lots of love

I heard an advert on Boom Radio recently for Good To Go insurance. Cover for all types of conditions and no upper age limit. Don't know if they're expensive or any other details, we don't travel abroad.

Hi try All Clear Travel

For info all All Clear Travel asked was how many hospitalizations had there been and had there been any swallowing issues.

Hi. Can't remember the company but we tried à few on line and they where all in the know about PSP and all they asked about was swallowing and latest hospitalisation. We paid under a hundred pounds.Good luck.

Hi

We was going abroad for a week All clear give us a quote for £700 but did say his age was against him at 76 but that was for 2 of us .

Hi Skywalker we get insurance from AlClear and have done for many years with my husband having previous cancer. When he was diagnosed with CBD and Parkinsonism. When I renewed this year it pushed the price up having the Parkinsonism. We had to cancel a holiday last year and we got our money back. Good luck in getting one sorted 💜

When my husband was diagnosed in 2014, we decided that we would pack our bags and travel until we no longer could. I dragged my poor husband literally around the world, Spain, France, China, Russia, etc. It was difficult as his symptoms progressed, but I have no regrets. John passed in 2020. To be honest, I never thought of traveler's insurance. Perhaps sheer ignorance on my part! Most countries are not ADA compliant, we rode in many, many service elevators! We even bought a cheap wheelchair from Walmart ($45) just in case it got lost. It never did. I guess my point is to live in the present. With or without the insurance I would go. It's all about attitude. Have fun while you can and make those memories. That's all your left with in the end. Hugs, Alice

Hi, I've just used SAGA...they were more reasonable than Staysure and All Clear...and they cover P.S.P.

Hi Skywalker72!

Perhaps the British Social Security is in correspondence with the French one. In Spain a correspondence is maintained after Brexit.

Airlines and airports have special procedures for people with reduced mobility.

I applaud your plan to spend a few days of vacation with the PSP patient.

Let me suggest that you seek help and even if you are the primary caregiver, avoid being the sole caregiver for a PSP patient.

It is essential that all caregivers of a long-term patient take vacations, the main caregiver with even greater reason.

Hug and luck.

Luis
