How can we get travel insurance for my husband with PSP? He is 73, diagnosed about 2 years ago after a long time with symptoms. Have booked a holiday (desperately needed!)and my husband is convinced PSP is terminal and he can't get insurance. He is worried about me I think. Is this true and any ideas?

Linda, I am anxious to see the replies from those who know. I am uncertain, but I do not believe that the PSP itself causes death. I think it ipatients usually die from falling, choking, or perhaps no longer eating or drinking. Since your husband is not at this point, perhaps he would qualify for the insurance. Do they consider Parkinsons terminal? I hope you get the answer and even more, I hope you are able to have a wonderful Holiday . Enjoy ,!
I think it is impossible to get an insurance to cover you from a pre-existing illness without paying ridiculous amounts of money I go to Hungary about twice a year and have given up on insurance. Please make sure that you have a valid European health insurance card, This covers you for all emergency treatments. About two years ago I was crossing a road in a Hungarian village when I froze up well it wasn't long before the cars stopped and people got out and started to fuss around me, the anxiety didn't help much and i could not speak ( this is another symptom of psp) They mistook this for me having some sort of stroke so they called for an ambulance, and before I knew it I was in the a&e at the local hospital. where they tested me for all types of things. anyway my wife eventually came and sorted everything out the point being the EHIC card actually works as it should in Spain if you have an emergency.
Linda sorry it's fogg insurancenot foggy my I pad added a year on the end for some reason lolx
We got insurance for my husband from Staysure. We had to declare that he was diagnosed with PSP but the were happy to insure him. The last time he travelled abroad (Europe) was about 18 months before he died.
The official cause of death on the Death Certificate is PSP.

My husband has CBD.
We do travel abroad three times a year and for four weeks at a time.
We use stature insurance. Declare his disease and pay £280 for multi trips.
Where do you live....Best bet is call an insurance company and see what is the basic policy!
