Nice we have a few tadpoles left but lots have turned into froglets now so tiny and perfect

I can waste a heck of a lot of time keeping an eye on what’s going on in the pond. The heron is a nuisance and often drops by looking for a ready meal; even Millie my cat isn’t keen on seeing him off. I suspect that out of the hundreds of tadpoles in the pond, not too many make it to adulthood. I saw a newt again today and pleased that they are still in residence.

I’m glad to say we don’t have a visiting heron and yes you are right not many make it to adults you are lucky to have a newt as so far I have not seen one in the pond x

We had a pond at my childhood home in Pennsylvania. Warm summer nights we had all the windows open to cool things off. I used to love to listen to the frogs serenading us to sleep with their pond songs. One would sing a solo then the rest would chime in on the chorus. A favorite memory for me.

Yes it’s lovely isn’t it we often listen to them in the spring and then wait for the spawn and tadpoles And lots of little froglets this year too x
