My mom was an accomplished seamstress, and quite artistic in other areas; she could draw, sketch, paint, etc. This time last year, we were sitting in the back yard with some of the grandchildren, painting rocks! I captured this image of Mom painting next to her grandson, Bradley, and her little rock with flesh colored face .. eyelashes and red lips!
Growing up, she was always the grandmother that had something planned for the kids sleepover, always. I walked in to the house one day, and all four of her granddaughters were playing "beauty shop", and Moms hair was in curlers, make up all over her face, and a pedicure with cotton balls between her toes! I wish at that time, we had smart phones, because I would have captured that moment in my memory --

She sounds like a wonderful mother and grandmother. People are painting stones in our village and placing them outside for families to photograph and send to the village website. Something to do on our permitted 1 walk outside a day. We also have rainbows and Teddies in our widows for children to spot. XxxX
What lovely ideas :). Have you seen the Stockport Spiderman - he's not only doing his exercise dressed as Spiderman and waving at the kids, he's (well actually there are two, covering different areas) encouraging them to put up draw posters as well. In times of adversity people get so creative.
No AJK I hadn’t heard of the Stockport Spider-Man but I’ve just looked him up and seen him on YouTube. On the clip I saw, Batman also cycled down the road. In these difficult times, folk are still finding things to cheer us up.
Gosh, your post brought back memories. I loved my grandpa Dario and he never planned anything but I remember the time I put his hair in pink curls (as he read the paper).
Since I have lost my son I have come (even more so) to realize the importance of memories (it's all we have after a person we loved is gone) and the photos. I think you can never ever have enough photos....not ever.
Your mom has already left memories with her grandchildren, and when she is no longer with us you will find memories that others have of her, and it will fill your soul.
The other night hubby was wearing his noise cancelling headphones watching Cheers. He had some whopper belly laughs and I recorded the sound of his laughter, nothing else. Just the music of his laugh.
One thing that sustains me is a video I have on my phone of Rod full of laughter with my son pushing him along a woodland path. He was the train driver, just as he used to play the game with the kids when they were small, and dining room chairs were lined up with the driver at the front. This video was taken just a few months before he died and how I treasure hearing his laughter - gets me through a few dark moments. Memories really are and always will be my greatest treasure. Love Hils. xx
Funny you should mention Cheers. We began streaming it recently and I’d forgotten how good the show is - you can laugh constantly. Writing and cast worked so well together!
