Oh the joy of seeing my Mom in the kitchen over the years; always whipping up something wonderful to eat! My Moms house was a place that you did not visit without eating ... hungry or not, you’re going to eat something!
Over the years my mom would make pumpkin rolls, to the point she would take orders because so many people would call and ask her to make them or want to order some for the holidays. OH the aroma that filled the house with them baking in the oven. I wish I could share that aroma with all of you right now!
Today, my husband and I measured everything out in advance, and mom proudly sat in the kitchen and whipped up her famous pumpkin rolls! My heart smiles tonight, knowing that this brought her joy today!
I wish everyone a meaningful and Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁🍽
P.S. Lower left picture -- CBD alien limb, in this case her finger -- It points straight up almost all the time without her knowing it. I showed this picture to Mom today, and we both smiled -- and I said, well, I suppose we should be happy that it isn't your middle finger that pops up. (wink wink)

Hey Tippy! I am good, thank you - after returning from a much needed break (after hitting the wall of pure burnout) ... I am
Re-charged and ready to make more memories this Thanksgiving. We have entered into a new normal - short experiences, and yes ... exhausted. She naps now in mid-afternoon everyday; sometimes she doesn’t sleep, but just rests — I encourage it ... she seems much better after. Hope you’re well! Xxx
What happy photos to remember happy times. I’ve never had pumpkin roll so I’ve just looked at the recipe on line and am definitely going to try to make it. I hope the rolling will be more successful than the Swiss roll I made at school which just cracked at every roll. Do you purée the pumpkin yourself or buy canned? I’ve never seen canned in the U.K. but that may be because I haven’t looked. I love the finger. It looks as if mom is telling you to stop doing something.
Happy Thanksgiving making more unforgettable memories.
Hi NannaB! Ha! Yesterday, I rolled one of them, and thought for sure it was going to break...Mom kept encouraging me to go ahead, that it wouldn’t. We roll out a small bakers cloth towel, and cover it with powdered sugar, and refrigerate over night; we will be adding filling today. Yes, we buy pumpkin canned...let me know how it comes out! Oh that finger ... Momma will grab it at times and look at it with this look of “what are you doing?!” She’s been in good spirits this past week ... and I’m thinking today she will make deviled eggs for tomorrow ... one of her little favorites! ((Hugs to you NannaB))
Love the pics and your description of the smells. I'm a spice cake, gingerbread and molasses drop kind of guy myself. I can't resist a kitchen with smells of those. Have a great Thanksgiving.
