Saliva gland

Anyone had experience of blocked saliva glands? My husband drools and dribbles a lot. He now has pain below his jaw line. Hoping antibiotics will kick in soon.

Larry had a gland block once. Warm compresses help.

Hi

It sounds painful.

Here is an article which seems to have some sense behind it.

Do you know the cause? Stones and or just infection?

Wishing you the best with it.

If his gland is blocked, the pain will be even more excruciating when food touches his lips and instead of drooling the saliva fills up the gland suddenly making his face look like one of those cartoons in comics when the character has toothache. It is absolute agony. The GP gave me antibiotics and also medication that said would make me very ill and as I had lots of outings booked, I managed to clear it by massaging the swelling. I took the antibiotics. Someone who saw my swollen face told me not to take the other medication as she was very ill with it. I could feel the saliva flowing from the gland as I massaged it. I do hope you antibiotics kick in soon. Your poor husband doesn’t need this.

Thanks for yr message. Really not sure what’s going on, there’s no swelling, he’s ok when eating etc. I’ll try the warm drinks, and warm compress seems to help too. Regards
