Living in Mexico with psp

My husband was finally diagnosed with PSP last September 2019 having had first symptoms of behaviour changes 4 years ago. He has thankfully retained his sense of humour with this awful disease. At the moment we are at our winter home in Mexico and are surrounded by wonderful friends and a caring supportive community. My husband seems to be doing so much better here and is much happier than in the UK and I am thinking we should remain here as long as we can but I am struggling to decide at what point we should return to our UK home. He has mobility, speech, vision, and cognitive issues etc., and is taking an antidepressant that has really improved his aggressive moods but is doing ok. I’m just always on tender hooks for a sudden deterioration. Any advice with this?

Many thanks

Unfortunately there is no way to truthfully answer your question. Everyone will go through symptoms differently. Some symptoms may never appear or may appear at a different time.

I'd go with your "gut instinct" about when to travel back to the UK. I'd error on the side of caution though. An illness or fall could drop his baseline quite quickly and unexpectedly.

Thanks so much for your response and thoughts.

I totally agree with Ron's post. One thing l discovered with my mom & PSP was that as soon we figured out a symptom a new one would appear. Searching some of the old posts on this site might help you at this time. Sure hope your hubby keeps his humor... it is worth a million... as is a Suppotive Community. Sending hugs to you both... Thank you for your reply. Just had the most fantastic 74th birthday party for him with 24 friends. He was so happy and just cannot stop talking about how he loves his life here. Our decision has been made to stay as long as he is happy and everything is in place for when the time comes to return the UK. Friends and family in Mexico and the UK are all ready to whatever changes PSP throw at us.
