I live in India where the awareness of PSP is very low. With the exception of (1) early falls and (2) Vertical eye movement, the two important factors of PSP, I have virtually all other problems which has led to conflicting verdicts after physical examination by the doctors. I have the following questions:
(1) s there a comprehensive list of questions that determines the chance of having PSP?
(2)What else? If it is not PSP
I will be grateful for inputs
Regards

Backwards falls and difficultly in vertical eye movement are two very distinct symptoms of PSP. These diseases mimic a lot of other medical conditions at first, which is why they are so hard to get an observational diagnosis for.
In answer to your questions; I don't know of a "question list" for doctors that would lead straight to a PSP Dx. As for what else could it be....the list is near endless in what the doctors can check for.
You say that you have almost every other symptom of PSP. The list of PSP symptoms is quite long and normally a person doesn't exhibit all the symptoms. Heck there's not even of a list of when or to what degree a person will definitely experience symptoms. If you can provide more information on what you are going through then possibly we can give you better answers.
I have 1)Rigidity 2)Speach problem 3) Swallowing difficulty and saliva issue 4) Slow movements 5)Freezing gait 6)Impaired bladder control 7)Excessive mucus formation and 8)Double Vision and eyes closing. .The only medication I am taking is SYNDOPA PLUS for cramps and NIXITO 10 for depression and anxiety
i have -psp and was diagnosed about 5 years ago with pqrksonism. it took q switchn in doctors to finally determine that i have psp instead. so i beleive ypur options are psp or parkinsons disease. best, gary
Many things can mimic each other and PSP is no exception. To get to the bottom my doc performed many tests. I was given a probable Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis first, then tested for B-1, B-12, Copper, and Thiamin deficiency. Followed by thyroid, syphilis, some genetic diseases and a re-evaluation of MS. However it was my early backwards falls and inability to fully look up and down that defined it.
I know have increasing coughing and choking, speech difficulties, slowness of thought, apathy, impulsivity, degradation in executive functioning and others.
