Conversation cards ...

This has been such a fun experience ... conversation cards bring out stories I have never heard before! Today, one of the cards had a picture of "Saddle Shoes", and on the back of the cards was 10 - 12 questions to ask about the picture, which always brings out a story of some kind. One of the questions was, "Did you ever have a pair of saddle shoes?" Mom's face turned a bit grim (which is not common, she is always smiling) -- and she said, "Yes, but I never wore them", I responded, "Why didn't you wear them?" "The lady that gave them to me was very mean to me", she said.

Funny how a picture can draw out some of the oldest memories!

I had to wear them for a foot problem - rather than black and white shoes, my mother got me maroon and tan - I thought I would just die😄
