Made the trip outwest

Well....we survived the 10 day trip outwest. Mike fell only once, 2nd night in bathroom. Luckily, my brother and a friend who also went got him up.

The tour guide was so understanding and the tour bus driver was exmilitary who took Mike under his wing and helped him so very, very much...like he was a buddy. It was a small grp so that was a plus too.

One more trip off the "bucket" list...however definately our last bus tour.

Just wish the drs office could have got him in before we left...they gave him a shot in the knee which has helped tremendously. ..sure could have used the help on the trip.

Airports were great except one damaged his walker....can be fixed though.

I was really worried about him before, and during the trip....what if he fell and broke something etc but he was so happy we were going. Needless to say I slept a lot after we got home....out of shear exhaustion and relief I think.

Next trip will be by car and not too far.

Well done! So pleased all went smoothly. You will remember the joy on Mike's face, just getting out there and doing it!

What's your next trip going to be?

We went all around the South Island of NZ by car. Hubby planned it and I drove. Was pleased he arranged it as he would rarely initiate holidays and such. I look back now and realise he must have felt "something" was going on a couple of years before I was aware of the bigger changes.

Hope you get chance for many more trips.

Hugs

Thank you Jen. He really did enjoy it. Unsure of next adventure....maybe Northeast.

We are extremely blessed to have been able to travel before Mike formally diagnosed. His memory is good and he still remembers our travels.

I am glad to hear you and your hubby are still able to enjoy traveling. These are the days and memories that will help get us through the days to come.

Enjoy..

Thank you Kerry. We are trying....but also trying to watch purse strings a little more. Plus, it's so much easier, even though I was still exhausted. having a few companions go with us. They would stay with Mike while I walked to see places he could not quite get to off the trail. But he was a trooper and tried his best.

Well done!

Shear exhaustion and relief is how I end every day.

Hear that. 5:30 this morning he rolls or throws himself out of bed to the floor. I jump up, hit my foot, come around bed to see him crawling toward bathroom as he is dizzy and feels sick. Get him back to bed, something to drink and a "pail" to keep by bed so he doesn't have to get up incase he feels sick again.

My heart rate went from a nice sleep to "off the charts" in 5 seconds....here we go. Never know from one day to next...or hour by hour. Just got to live it while you can!

Nice to hear the trip and enjoyable and injury free. Keep traveling as you wish for as long as it's possible.
