Himalayan salt pipes

I came upon this group by accident but noticed some of the carers having problems with phelgm. I had tried everything including some of the advise given here. The salt pies I have bought for my mum and my self. From the first day her chest is cleaner, her breathing has eased, she gets the phlegm up much easier and is not taking coughing fits. So for anyone with chest problems cold, asthma etc. This is the most reasonably priced item from £9.99 ---£15.. I bought my ones on Amazon.

Have never heard of them! Am sure someone will try them out.

The difficulties with breathing, phlegm, and coughing experienced here are generally due to the relevant nerve or thought stimulus not working. The nature of the diseases covered on this site relate to degenerative brain disease rather than breathing difficulties caused by a virus. Nonetheless, the information may still help someone. Thanks.

We have a nebuliser and saline capsules prescribed by our GP which can also dry up excessive phlegm etc.

I got confused with the salt pies and was almost on my way out to the pie shop, 😂

Hi, we also have a nebulizer but according to the physiotherapist the phlegm mum has was so thick, all that was happening was the saline was landing on top of the phlegm and was then spat out. I have never seen such a change since using the pipe. I have been fighting this enemy for years without success so this is a miracle.

Which just goes to show that both are using the same principle using salt to clear up the phlegm.

I have only had to use the nebuliser about 4 times in the six years we have had it. We have had success with Scopoderm patches which don't appear to work for everyone. You gave us a good laugh about the pies. (Spelling correction UGH!)

As I understand , the muscles become weak in neuromuscular disorders including PsP ... this results in weak chest muscles and inability to cough out thus leading to aspiration.

One of the salts researched on is magnesium that some say helps in the typical Parkinson diseases which may help stimulate muscles . But that’s more from a application perspective and not inhalation.

Yes, in the days of yore we would gargle with salt water at tear drop strength for this very reason.

I'm sure that the Himalayan Salt Pipes work, but feel obliged to add that Himalayan Sea Salt is a massive hype based on intense marketing. Google it if you don't believe me... the mines aren't even in the Himalayas proper, but 'Pakistani Mountain Salt' doesn't quite hit the gong.

Anyway, I am so glad this works.
