PSP symptoms

My husband was diagnosed with PD in 2014 in 2017 was changed to PSP. He has never had hand tremors, thank God but now his whole body is doing the jerking movement. He is on Quetiapine which works sometimes. He has developed foul smelling flatulence which is very embarrassing for him if we are out somewhere plus it is constant. He has Movicol for a laxative but has had that for years. He has had no change in diet or meds. Is anyone else suffering this. His GP can’t offer any advice.

Hi fletchnojob, and welcome to the fold!

I am in Hamilton just across the ditch!

Diabetic medicine seems to do same thing! Or so my son demonstrates.

My husband had CBD and specialist offered him coconut oil, said to take 1-2 tablespoons up to twice a day. We did not have long to trial it - but after only 1 tablespoon, my husband's constipation was embarrassingly reversed!! So suggest low dosage to begin with.

Coconut oil has been advocated here for improving brain function. The specialist said he was taking it himself and felt it worth while. He was very young and bright!!

Hugs

Hi Jen, coconut oil gives him diahorea even the smallest amount. He is not constipated but just has foul smelling flatulence.

Hi fletchnojob - I don't think I've never smelled any flatulence that wasn't fowl. That said, medications will have an affect on the gastrointestinal system... especially constipation. The jerking movements you describe sound very much like myoclonus... been there done that - still do at times.
