I'm new here. My husband was diagnosed with PSP yesterday at Northwestern U, Chicago. He has also had two strokes since January and has Afib for which he has been on Amiodarone for a few years. His symptoms started immediately after taking this horrible drug. A drug of last resort. (He is staying on it until we can get into a new cardiologist in December!) The neurologist says his symptoms are not a result of Amiodarone, but I have read many articles saying they could be related. Has anyone taken Amiodarone?

Amiodarone and PSP?
Never heard of the drug. Looking up the side effects it has some PSP symptoms as a result. If he has PSP he’s probably had it for sometime. The drug may have brought it out a bit faster. Once you read about other symptoms of PSP you might find he has exhibited some for years.
Hi Cocodunny!
Abrazos y suerte
My mother (CBD) has Afib as well. She went on Amiodarone last year when her Afib went wonky - but she is in late stages of CBD, (at least 11 if not 14 years now). So, Amiodarone doesnt correlate to her CBD - but she absolutely hated taking it because how it made her feel. She actually refused taking it despite the great risk that doctors warned her about going off of it. They put her on Cartia and then most recently they’ve moved her to Sortalol which she seems to tolerate much better.
Yes, my husband is on amiodarone and has psp. Had a fib, now v tach which is why the amiodarone. PSP symptoms were there before the drug.
Hearing that makes me less angry about the drug. Guess I'm just trying to find a cause for this terrible disease!
