Eating lunch, having pitted prunes after as my attempt at regularity, I bit down on a pit fragment. I check the prunes for pits or fragments before I eat them. Missed this one. Knew instantly a chunk of the tooth had collapsed. Only adds to my joy of life. Now I have to get an appointment to get it fixed. The only upside is it really isn’t a problem to eat. It is sensitive to cold but it isn’t unbearable. I go on. Sigh.

I broke a molar Sunday
Oh poor you this is something you could have done without glad you haven't got any pain and hope you can get an appointment before you do.

The dentist office opens at 11 on Monday. I will be on the phone at 11:01. They may say come in today. They stay open until 7 tonight.
Oh I hope so because even though you have no pain now there is nothing worse than toothache.
I'm absolutely terrified of the dentist just the thought of it fills me with dread but its best to get these things sorted ASAP.
I forget about the time difference just looked at the clock here and its 2.30 pm.

I have never been afraid of the dentist since I was a kid. Use to dread it then one visit I put my mind elsewhere. I’m a redhead. We respond differently to anesthesia. My childhood dentist in the 50’s would drill without numbing the area. He didn’t want to risk killing me accidentally. Even now that my hair is gray I tell any dentist I see for the first time I was a red head. They usually know what I am talking about. They give me a shot to numb me then ask it it took effect. Most times there is a lag.
I have an appointment for 10 tomorrow morning. Larry will be on his own for some time.
Ouch! I feel for you. I've got a molar that's cracked, too. Just started with the random sudden jolt thing. Our late friend, Peter Jones, used to say "These things are sent to try us. And they do, they do." (He was the most wonderful, humorous, good-hearted, and courageous man. An amazing story-teller, with lots to tell. I miss him.)
I was complaining to my dentist that my teeth were starting to fall apart. They are wearing out like the rest of me.
Hope you are sorted out now? In future look more closely!! You could have choked? Now that might have been harder to fix?

I learned my lesson the hard way.
Oh no.....so sorry.....especially since you cautiously inspect the prune.
Many years ago, I think I was in my 60's, I used my front teeth to pry something open. I lost a third of my FRONT right tooth. Miracles were worked and it was corrected/repaired. I was told that I no longer could eat anything (especially fruit) that had to be bitten into with my front teeth. I have had to have it repaired several times....always giving thanks that I have dental insurance ( gift from working 33 years on my job).
Jeff166, this too will pass.
Blessings................
The molar might have given way with just about anything. It’s not the first tooth in my mouth that crumbled.
My dentist told me that when a tooth is ready to break it would go on a bread roll. !!

My first one went like that. I bit down on a piece of gum.
Hope you are sorted and the tooth as good as new. You really could do without these hassles!!
Love Tippy
Hope you got your tooth repaired and Larry was ok. I cracked a molar on an almond in my breakfast cereal. Eventually part of the tooth came away but thankfully dentist was able to build it up again. Hope you and Larry are in as good a place as you can be. Best wishes Nanny857 x
I’m back from the dentist with a patch on it for now. Have to get a crown on it. This would be so easy if Larry’s care weren’t in the mix. It should take the dentist an hour and a half to two hours to do most of the work. Then a return trip for the permanent crown. I could probably leave him alone for this as I did today. Will see if his cousin is willing to sit with him. Have to find out when she could.
Hope it works out for you both. xx
