Hello: I'm new to psp..my 76 yr old mom was... - PSP Association
Hello
Welcome to the site. Since you're an only child I'd advise to get a power of attorney and healthcare, you'll need it eventually and much easier to get if your mom is still communicating. Start checking out caregiver agencies, you'll need help so you get breaks for "me time". Letting us know what part of the world your from will help tailor answers.
Ron
Hello Ron thank you for the advice..about 1 1/2 ago mom fell and broke her hip so since then I've hired some caregivers to look after her while I'm at work. Also around that time we went and saw a elder lawyer and hopefully got everything squared away. I recently got her a hospital bed too. I'm the type of person who likes to have all my ducks in a row so if you can think of anything I may need please let me know..I have a walker, lift chair, wheelchair, potty chair and a shower chair.
Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about your mom. From your reply to Dadshelper you sound well organized. Things will come up. That when this site comes in handy. Most likely someone one here has had a deal with any number of health issues or situations in the past. They are more than willing to give helpful answers.
Thank you Jeff..I'm sure as time goes on i will definitely need some helpful answers..thank you for your reply.
Welcome to the site no one wants to join but one which will give you lots of support and info. Where do you live UK, USA, Europe?? This will help people give you appropriate info
Love Tippy
Hello Tippy..Thanks for your reply..I live in New Jersey in the USA.
Hi Sha66.
I'm sorry PSP has entered your family.
The suggestions of my "chat" colleagues are wise and based on their different experiences. In my case they have been very helpful.
This disease manifests itself in a similar but different way in each patient. The participants in chats like this offer practices and solutions to learn from, and through the "trial and error" method, achieve a quality of life with interesting moments despite everything.
By private mail I send you our particular experiences on PSP-RS that we hope you can find useful.
Hug and luck.
Luis
Hello,
Sorry you've had to join us but you are in the rigbt place. Everyone here is so friendly and kind, there will always be someone who has an answer for you.
I guess you may have already done this but get Power of Attorney for Finance and Health. It just makes life easier.
Take care, you are not alone.

Thank you Sue..mom fell last year and broke her hip so we decided it was time to see a elder lawyer and got everything squared away..Thanks for replying.
Welcome to the site. It is a nice place to visit. A second opinion is a good idea, I think, as these conditions are difficult to diagnose. Are you in the US or elsewhere? You have your hands full right now as an only child. I have found it comforting to talk things over with my daughters. My husband has had CBD for 12 years. There are lots of helpful people here.
Marilyn
Hello Marilyn..you are absolutely right, I've only been on this site a few days and have already gotten great advice from some wonderful people. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this battle. Sorry about your husband.
