Hi daffodil48 , when you eat Saliva is produced in your mouth and creates
a food bolus so it can be swallowed easier i have done more reading and when you have sticky Saliva , you can rinse and gargle if possible (not necessary) with club soda or baking soda , quarter teaspoon, half glass
of water before and after eating. My Kathy seems to cough after eating

Dear Peter
Thank you for the handy hint - so good to hear you have found something to reduce the distressing coughing

Thank you for the useful tip. My husband was coughing for a good hour today and nothing seemed to stop it. I shall try this. Thanks AliBee
Wow, how interesting!
My brother has a terrible cough and doesn't like to eat or drink now. Sadly the lack of fluids has led him to have a water infection and no amount of encouragement will make him drink more. I think the coughing frightens him. He can't talk now but points to his throat when we offer a drink.
I shall give all who care for John this info and hope it helps.
Thank you.

Thank you for this great tip. Mum thankfully doesn't have this problem at the moment but it's good to know just in case . It's great that it helps with your wife's coughing which must be such a relief to her.
