The Doc prescribed liquid antibiotic to J as he said start of chest infection, the bottle has one more dose left and the coughing continues and its driving me insane. My question is what happens next? Is it coughing now all the way to the end?? I suppose all the time he eats and drinks it will get worse? We live in flats and am worried this loud coughing is disturbing the neighbours.

Esc he might need liquid antibiotic. It sounds like a bad chest infection and as we all know that can lead to pneumonia. What is the doctor like does he now about PSP? G was put on Vancomycin in hospital. It is a strong antibiotic but what is needed if he has pneumonia.

Esc meant to say the neighbours should understand! If not they should be told that he is very ill. Hugs to you sweetheart.

Escada, I really feel for him as Mum has had the liquid form and she hated it, I tried it to see if it really was that bad and blimey it was disgusting so went back to tablet form as she could take them without water. Anyway that aside if you get antibiotics and there is no change after 3 days then you should have been told to go back. We can become immune to antibiotics so they will not prescribe stronger or newer ones unless necessary. I would say this is definatley the case for you. Call docs first thing and get him some different ones. Good luck xx
Hi
Could be reflux or him not being able to deal with secretions , both respond to other meds.
Rog has no volume in his few words but when he coughs😨😨 ! I agree tell the neighbours, get your gp to refer to speech and language , maybe be worth trying pureed food for a while,

Coughing has been our daily challenge for several years. Since he had hints of pneumonia more coughing and choking. I do think this is our future. They can't clear the secretions and the throat closes up. I'm so sorry for you and for me.
