Well, this is a nice update, for a change. I finally pushed harder about my suspicions that his shoulder pain was related to nerve damage, and the doctor decided to put him on Lyrica (pregabalin) to see if that would help. He started the new meds Tuesday evening, and when I saw him Thursday I was so surprised at the improvement. His pain had decreased substantially, the movement in the left arm was better, his speech was much clearer, and he just looked better overall. I guess some of the worsening symptoms were related to the morphine, etc.
We're not fooling ourselves, of course, we know that this disease will continue to progress, but to have him with much less pain and able to communicate better (and feed himself again - I forgot to mention that!) is such a relief. The staff were all so happy too, to see him looking and feeling better.

My darling Ian has been on pregabalin for a few years concerning another condition, and I had no idea it could also be masking some of his PSP symptoms. I shall certainly remember this next time he suggests reducing his dosage!
I am so pleased to read your good news.
We must keep looking for the good news....There seems so precious little of it.
Hi Ribbbie, I am diabetic and my bowles have changing for better, since I took pregabalin. It is recommended for diabetic neurophaty. It has side effects. So you need a physician advice.
