A light in the night and coping with heat.

I do like this heatwave.

It's made me eat less.

I work less hard during the day.

And it's too hot to sleep. I sit in the garden listening to the water feature and the night sounds with my moggie close by stretched out in the cool doing what she does best... Snoozing.

Every now and then she gets up and meows to say how much she is enjoying it and then she creeps off to find another place to stretch out.

Last night I again lit the lamp for the ones who have passed and their loved ones and sat remembering. Peaceful, holding and letting go. My thoughts mere moths about the lamp. The warm night wrapped close about me.

I love how you commemorate people, past and with us.

Your writing reminds me Yeats. Do you know "The Song of Wander Aengus"? It starts out:

"I went out to the hazel wood,

Because a fire was in my head,

And cut and peeled a hazel wand,

And hooked a berry to a thread;

And when white moths were on the wing,

And moth-like stars were flickering out,

I dropped the berry in a stream

And caught a little silver trout."

and goes on:

"When I had laid it on the floor

I went to blow the fire a-flame,

But something rustled on the floor,

And someone called me by my name:

It had become a glimmering girl

With apple blossom in her hair

Who called me by my name and ran

And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering

Through hollow lands and hilly lands,

I will find out where she has gone,

And kiss her lips and take her hands;

And walk among long dappled grass,

And pluck till time and times are done,

The silver apples of the moon,

The golden apples of the sun."

You are certainly one who is still holding hands with his true love.

Lost,

Thanks for sharing that. It's beautiful.

The line, "And faded through the brightening air." is superb...

I'm pleased you liked my words. I do have a poetic view of the world with a dose of philosophy thrown in. It was never a good career style!!! LOL However I was not gifted with the poets fluency of words.

Waiving and smiling we should have a poets corner... for favourite poems or our own stuff... Quite a few folk here have grasped the moment in beautiful words.

And, yes. It was very hot today and so I popped around to the home this afternoon, brought Liz home and pointed our small air conditioning unit at her... she curled up in my lap held my hand and relaxed.

One day she will turn back into silvery fish and fly up to Yeats' moon and I then will forever stare, on moonlight nights, bathing in her silvery light.

Wishing you good things
