Larry is complaining about his foot. Looking at it this morning it looks red and swollen some. His father had gout. I think he may have it as well.

Got a call from his cousin Barb yesterday to tell us Larry’s mother had died. She was 94. Three weeks short of her 95th birthday. She had been in a care home since January. This is sad but not unexpected.

I let his cousin know we wouldn’t be at the funeral. We are in Philadelphia. His mother lives south of Pittsburgh. The thought of taking this show on the road is a no go. It’s more than enough work to do it here where I know where everything I need is.

Another reason is I somehow manage to develop a boil on my butt. It’s in the process of drain now. I expected him to develop bed sores not me.

Other then that life is grand.

I 100% agree with skipping the ceremony for cousin's mom....an excellent decision.

Sorry about your boil.....last time I developed one was as a teenager. Ouch!!! 61 years ago????

My son developed a bed sore very close to his death. I had never seen one and thought it was a bruise.

R U involved in the Biogen or Abb-vie clinical trials? They look very encouraging.

Best to you...........gorgeous morning in Los Angeles.

Larry’s mother died. His cousin called to tell us.

Last boil I had I was a kid as well. Things I had as a kid are starting to come back.

Hi Jeff166, thank you for the clarification on it being Larry's mom. Obviously I misread. I still think your decision is wise.

"They say" that life is a cycle, we start off with diapers and end up with diapers. I think "they say" is the new "the neighbors will think".

Time to shower, eat, and get ready for my 2 hour phone visit with my daughter. Since my son's death we have started that tradition. She lives in Oregon.

BTW, what does the "166" after your name mean? Not your birthday....much too young.

I’m not physically up to doing the trip. I have my own impairment.

The 166 is the house address.

What next for you, a plague of locusts? So sorry for your miseries. Staying home sounds like a very wise move.

When I figured out it was a boil I had to laugh. What else was my reaction. Then I read other people’s post on here that are having even harder times doing the same thing. They’re a little older and a little more infirmed themselves. Could be worse.

Hi Jeff166

I love the dry humour - It must be tough for you right now.

Just don't sit on any hard chairs and keep on with the humour. ;)

Best to you!

Kevin

I agree with your decision. Funerals and memorials are for the living - they don't do anything for the dead, and if such a trip doesn't serve Larry, no point in it.

Yes - stay away from locusts and frogs, lol!

I’m avoiding as much as I can. Sometimes the universe doesn’t cooperate.

Sorry about your trials like Job! I know they can be very painful.

My hubby had CBD and while confined to bed in hospital he developed a very painful knee. It was extremely sore but the doctor missed it on his rounds because of usual rigidity and soreness generally present.

His knee was red, very sore and swollen and very warm to touch. Being a knee, it had accumulated fluid and needed to be drained urgently.

Don't assume that it is gout just because it is in the family. I know you will do your best to get it checked by doctor.

Problems in joints can be unpleasant and dangerous as fluid build up may also include bugs. He may need an antibiotic, maybe some other attention. Check too in case cellulitis develops.

Have noticed that in our case, CBD, skin became affected with the disease, even tho it seems at first to be silly to say so. Skin is an organ of body and my experience shows it also likely to show deterioration like other autonomic parts of the body. Makes sense to me.

Hope life plateaus again for you both.

Thanks for that input. I started ibuprofen yesterday and the swelling and redness is decreasing. I will be monitoring the foot. We are due for a quarterly house call from his primary care doctor next Monday. I do have access to calling them if they are needed sooner. Right now I think things are OK.
