Larry got though his cold without any noticeable side effects or decline. His primary care doctor was here on Tuesday and listen to his lungs which were declared clear. On we go.
Some good news.: Larry got though his cold... - PSP Association
Some good news.
Great news! I'm glad to hear it, and good to know you have a doctor who makes house calls, a rare gem!
Just a thought while I'm here. My guy was found to be really deficient in Vitamin D, which happens to us northerners in winter anyway, but much more so in the housebound, and that deficiency can play a role in mental acuity and mood and energy levels. Some studies suggest a link to various forms of dementia. Not to pretend to know much myself, but maybe that's worth considering and talking to Larry's doctor about? It's one the of the issues I could wish we had been alerted to earlier.
I think I'll go take some now myself!
Blizzard raging here. How are things in sunny Philadelphia?
Love, Sarah
Among the many supplements John takes, Vitamin D is one. Must be monitored however. Good thing to have your Dr. check.

P.S. No snow today.....just a balmy 21°F

I accidentally found out about home visits in the fall when I called to see if I could get someone to come give him a flu shot. This program has been in place for people who couldn’t make it to the office for a number of years. They come every three months to check on him. Calling them last Thursday was told they could squeeze him in on Tuesday. We are around the corner from the practice.
Re the vitamin D. He has problems with pill swallowing. The Mucinex for the cold has been hard for him to get down. He stopped taking a multiple vitamin a year ago.
Our snow could have been much worse. At one point we were in the possible 10” to 16” area. I was glad to see that move away from us. We may have gotten 6”.
I got out just as it was stopping to clear the walk and steps to the street plus the street walk. It was very heavy and wet. I did a minimal job. Today the sun is out full. The melt down will begin.
Yes, that's another problem. I was pretty upset when I found that one pill we had struggled to get into some sort of medium he could swallow, and tormented him with in trying, I fear, was actually available in liquid form...just very expensive, so not covered without a bit of a fight. High concentrate D is available in liquid, but would definitely need a doctor's say so.
I find sometimes I'm giving out advice rather uselessly to folks here, still trying to set right what I got wrong. I hope it's not too annoying!
Love, Sarah
Oh, no, not annoying. I’m open to ideas. Reading on here makes me realize how well he is doing with this disease to date. Of course that could all go south at anytime. Another thing I found out on here.
When my hubby was tested at the beginning of all this, the only thing that stood out was his vitamin D deficiency. The Geriatrician who first saw him prescribed 4000 i.u. and he's been on that ever since. ...That made me up my dose to 2000 i.u. daily ..
I always appreciate your info/thoughts/opinions E.C. ..
I used to call our house "the cave" cuz we had beautiful windows that flowed light from the sun all day long til the sun was absolutely gone ....but alas they were darkened for 4 years . There were about as many lumens as would be found in a basement. I probably have rickets or ostoewhatever and surely I have dementia! I went to a meeting last week. They found that I did not have my marriage certificate (little late for that now eh folks?) Anyway we rescheduled. Today, when the man asked me for the certificate.....oops! I forgot it...to be fair ,I did bring all the other info they needed oh well, We will try again tomorrow I think I'll put that stuff in my car right now!
So how many inches of snowfall and whats the temp ec?
Hard to say how much snow. It was heavy and it drifted before it packed down...maybe a foot on average, but some places more like two. Good snowman snow. Not too cold, though. I don't think it will last.
It has been perfect March weather cold in the mornings wind taunting all the kite runners to come and play....and daffodils giving us some color where for months was only gray...
Build me a snowman.....better yet take a walk for me ...B and I used to love to to take long walks in the snow....When I was a kid in Nevada I loved taking walks out amongst the snow and sagebrush....the flakes would collect on the top of the sage creating a protective layer for the jack rabbits and such who had their own warm and dry fortress underneath! I was fascinated that the snow never really touched the ground....well the first snows...by February...we were all frozen ......
My hubby absolutely can't tolerate "light" either...It's one of the most depressing aspects of home life, and he has to have double sunglasses whenever he goes out in the car....
So now you're out of the 'basement' Andrea??
Sunlight definitely bothers mick we got him some tinted glasses that went dark the brighter it got and he wears peaked caps when out ,curtains are closed a good part of the day x
