Sadly my only sister, 69 years old, passed away yesterday, Saturday 2.24.2018. She was diagnosed with PSP in 2015 but we family knew something was wrong before diagnosis. She passed quietly without trauma. In the last year she was mainly in a wheelchair, had swallowing concerns, vocal issues, motor skills decline. She never complained but this disease made her exhausted. However she continued to attend therapies, movies, restaurants, family outings, etc all to bring her joy! As per her request her brain was donated to the CURE PSP foundation in NYC. She will be greatly missed be so many. Thank you for letting me join this website.

Hi Tina, Am so sorry for your loss!
You have not posted much but have seen your responses and understand what you have gone through.
Your sister sounds as if she was in control of her life when it was important and was able to make sensible informed decisions on her care.
You will miss her, and have conflicting emotions between loss and relief! You will know there are many here you can join with, who will help you through the dark days ahead.
Be pleased that your lovely intelligent sister has beaten PSP, and remember the wonderful person she was before it!
Come back to this site when you feel!
Hugs

I’m so sorry your sister had to live with this awful condition but she is now free. It’s good to hear she continued to join in activities, happy times for you to remember.
It’s interesting she donated her brain for research. My husband did in the U.K. and I received a letter to say it will be helpful for many years to come.
It’s comfort to me to know he is still helping to find a cure. I hope it’s a comfort to you to know your sister is doing the same.
Sending you a big hug.

Such a sad time for you. My condolences. Jxx
I am sorry for your loss, and applaud your sister and you for having her brain donated to CURE PSP. That is a major regret of mine. I think the more of us who do that, the quicker we will reach answers and solutions.
Hi Tina. It is so sad to lose your sister. I am sure you will miss her greatly. Leaving her brain tissue is a wonderful legacy and I am sure you are very proud of her. I wish you the strength to cope with the days ahead.

Hi Tina so sorry for your loss of your only sister big hugs and remember good times xxx.
Dear Tina, I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your sister to this awful disease. I pleased that she engaged in life despite her decline, something my husband chooses not to do unfortunately. Her brain donation will help in moving forward to understanding and maybe at some point halt the progression of PSP.
Sending much love
