A wonderful Christmas present from a dear friend......

Last Tuesday I went to the opera for the first time, it was something I have wanted to experience for many years. I went with my friend who I have known for some 58 years, we had talked on our flight home from Lisbon about all the things we wanted to experience before we died and she has made this dream come true.

We went to the Royal Opera House in and saw productions of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci.

Some of the music and arias were so beautiful that I cried.

This is just one of the arias......... youtube.com/watch?v=lmngnIL...

Try to keep doing all the things you can before the 'bad times' get you....

Bargiepat, how ABSOLUTELY marvelous. I greatly appreciate that you shared, and I got to listen and see.

My son, who died of PSP May 4, 2017, majored in music at UCLA. He got his law degree from UC BERKELEY,Boalt Hall, passed the California Bar and the CPA exam. He found out his first love was music and so he retired to teaching math during the day so that he could play his Bass at night and on weekends. He loved and played all music, classical (Mozart his favorite), R&B, Beatles, salsa, Broadway musicals, Big band, etc.

One night when a new medication was introduced to his system, he could NOT stop vomiting.....for hours. Finally he asked me to get one of his specific Mozart CD. He put on his headphones and within 20 minutes he calmed down and slept most of that night. The power of music.

My son would have loved reading your sharings. He's gone, so I read them for him.

Thank you, Margarita...... Los Angeles, CAlifornia, USA

You are an inspiration Patrick! You are so right: get out there and get memories to store up, so you have those for when you need them. My CBD man is in a weakened and apathetic state. It came on so sneakily I didnt realize it. If I had, I would have pushed to do more travel & experiece before he lost his physical ability.

Good on you!

Yes, suddenly the apathy is there and it's all to late. So many regrets about things we didn't do.

Much love, Althea

How wonderful for you, keep knocking things off your list.

Spine tingling aria. Thanks for sharing Patrick. I hope you can enjoy many more such experiences. I used to take my husband to local screenings of opera (and theatre) after he became wheelchair bound and that was wonderful.

Was on our 'to do list' Patrick but never got round to it. What a lovely day out that must have been, nothing like making great memories. Keep on ticking off the things on your wish list for as long as you can.

Bravo, Patrick !! Chris loved opera too. We went to a place in London a couple of times where you eat and the waiters are opera singers. It was a wonderful experience. I always cry at beautiful music !

Thank you so much for sharing your evening with us. I am so glad you enjoyed it. Nothing quite like a live performance is there? Oh thank you for that great photo of the stage and curtain. So simple but lovely? Let's hope you get to tick lots off that list!

Love and hugs.
