Hi, My understanding is you must return the car if the person you care for passes away x

Hi Tillyhugs

How are things? Hope this question just relates to your thinking ahead rather than deterioration. Let us know.

We had a number of aids on loan to help my love's mobility, but not a mobility car. As Escada29 says, there was no request to return them until after he passed away.

My love had CBD we think. We got a walking frame in January and he insisted he did not need it. Mid Feb he was made to use it as he had 2 weeks in respite care. When back home he preferred the wall! By end of April he was at a point where being on his feet and moving was scary! May 2 was in hospital as he was losing ability to hold self upright when sitting. So depending on how things move in the brain determines speed of reaction.

Hugs for Tillyhugs!!

Thinking of you both.

Hi Jen

He is still in hospital as they are waiting for a recliner chair to see if it will be suitable for him at home. I saw them using a hoist for the first time yesterday really got me stressed. Just in the middle of decorating the room for him so it is ready for when he gets home.

This is the longest time we have been apart since we met 46 years ago. I miss him so much even though I go to see him everyday.

Hope you are keeping well Jen

Take care

No, the hoist is not nice, but very helpful. Gather have to be careful not to pinch or friction burn skin, so bit of skill required. I never had one at home. One they used made by Viking was mobile.

Gave me a chuckle. My love could speak little, no longer reading a book and hallucinating at times. He suddenly introduced word 'Viking' into our conversation! I wondered where in his mind he was, remembering he had been to Scandinavia before I met him! Then I read the large maker's name on the hoist bar - as he had!!

You only give car back when recipient has passed away, it can be put in someone else's name if they use it to assist the recipient eg shopping, ride out , take to appointments etc. This happened with my brother in law. GW

No, the powers that be don't give out much information!!! I only found out a lot of answers to these issues because brother in law had MS. He had a motobility car and had never held a driving licence , couldn't drive , never had. His car was held by his son who didn't live at same address. Obviously the son used it as his own car but strictly speaking it's supposed to be for benefit of the person who needs it. G W.
