Getting up in the morning

Do any of you get. Up dizzy and almost unable to walk and find out that you get better as the morning progresses? My wife has to help me out of bed and it is scary to have this occur daily.

My mum has psp and this has been happening to her for a couple of months now and some days it doesn't go away I'm not sure why it happens I have it on my list to speak to the psp specialist in November !

The dizziness can be caused by blood pressure. If you have a blood pressure machine then you can record what it is when you are laying down then again when you get up. Don't get up straight away give yourself some time then get up. Go to your GP they can definitely help and take the blood pressure readings with you.

My mum had the same issue when she would get up, she is now bed bound. It would be very difficult for her to stabilise herself and walking to the toilet would be very difficult. It wasn't very safe either so we decided to use a wheelchair in the morning to avoid falls and make it easier for her. It was very frustrating for her as she was concentrating on walking but her feet wouldn't respond. Hope this helps.

BP exactly what I was thinking am2015....

JOTROget up slowly so your blood can get to your head...then drive to the dr and ask him to check bp and sugar level...loss of balance can be many things so a full work up sounds right. iT

I don't know what just happened, I was typing I look up, and it had been sent without the rest of the post....so anyway jotro You may have soemthing more than just PSP that should consider high blood pressure, low blood pressure sugar levels even inner ear or sinuses....get a doctor to look at you if you dont' have one. If it is from PSP////well chalk it up to the evil disease.....but do tell us how you deal with it...

Good luck to you

This may not be related to your illness. Stand at the side of the bed,or chair ( if you can) and count to ten before moving off. This will give your blood pressure time to adjust. Good luck! X

My wife has been this way through out this disease ( 4 yrs ) twice she has gotten out of bed in the am and passed out and broken bones with falling, I agree with the comment that a reader says may not be part of this disease .my wife always had low BP but this crazy sickness makes it worse ....Hydration and activity of anykind will help ...and you helping your spouse get up and down also helps . I am in the process of not working at all and caretaking full time ...I was working pt time 3 hrs a day as self therapy....My wife needs me ...I'm 67 and luckily at this point in good health... Hope this helped
