Morning Pillow Talk

So this is just funny, I thought I would share with my fellow Gladiators! This morning, early before sunrise, I woke up before Mom and had to go to the bathroom, so I quietly tip toed out of the room. We have two twin beds in our bedroom at the lake house, and this pic was taken this morning from my pillow to hers 😉.

So ... if you know me, I can be as quiet as possible, but it’s never quiet enough... something ALWAYS happens (stub my toe, walk into the wall, step on something - you get the idea) and BAM she’s awake! 🤓🤪

This morning I managed to get to the bathroom, and quietly back into the room ... and as I quietly crawl back into my bed .... I hear, “Did you miss the bus or something?!” What!!! Scared the bejesus out of me! My mother’s voice! Articulate, audible, super clear .... oh!!! I miss that voice! Has this happened to any of you? This is not the first time ...it’s either when she’s half asleep, or dreaming ... it’s as if her brain is not aware ... but she spoke so clear!!

Anyway ... that was my moment. I had to take a picture of her face as I shared the story ... she laughed ... and yes, she remembers saying it. #MomentswithMar

Yes Bazooka, my darling came out with the occasional statement or word months after I’d last heard him speaking. It happened several times and always bought tears to my eyes and sometimes smiles, especially when he said something he knew was funny. It’s weird how the brain works and I found it difficult understanding how he could be so clear on occasions and say nothing for months and even years.

Treasure those moments, I know you will.

The picture is absolutely adorable, I can feel the laughter from this moment.

Those are the moments to share and remember. Every once in a while dad would say something that was clearly understandable. It didn't always pertain to what was going but least it was clear.

It used to happen with my CBD hubby sometimes...maybe not whole sentences like you heard, but a sudden clear expression! I can just imagine how good - how normal - it must have felt for him!!

In fact I recall the earlier days of the disease, the one time I could count on him being able to talk was in bed, eyes closed, being still, no other noise etc. I think there must be less ‘neural load’ on the brain at these times and the fragile speech pathways can succeed...??

I find my voice becomes less of a slur when laying down. Maybe something about how and which muscles are used to talk while lying down verses upright. Just speculation on my part.

Wow. That must have been a joyous moment. What I wouldn't give to hear my Dear Wife's voice again. Your Mum's smile is gorgeous. ❤️❤️❤️

This picture is worth one word - BEAUTIFUL. A special memory to be treasured forever. That said, on occasion I may hear a certain song and sing along with it in the voice I remember.

It is always sarcasm or love you that come out clear, sarcasm with a smile just brings the old normal back and makes the world all right.

That’s very sweet. In the picture it looks like she might have a special blanket if I’m see correctly. Just curious as my dad has tremendous difficulty with blankets at night. Often keeps him and mom awake

It is odd. At Christmas I received a very soft sheepskin type blanket that is out of this world in its softness. It has to be the super softness of its texture that has made me want to carry it around from bedroom to livingroom like a child would their security blanket. My wife laughs at me but I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a few more to have at various locations around the house, one for taking out of the house and another as a spare for wash day.

Wow! It is striking as a part of their brain connects or disconnects, and so sad there is no cure to enable the disconnect to be rewired back to connect! Lovely smile and a lovely memory to hold on to.

I too have CBS and I was wondering how long your mum had had it, I love the pictures of Diana Ross, she is so fantastic for her age, no wonder you enjoyed the evening.
