The OT provided us with a slide sheet which makes it very easy to manoeuvre C in the hospital bed when I am on my own. To make it even easier, I lift the feet end and drop the head end so with a little help and gravity, he gently slides to the top of the bed to sit him up.

I have two others that you use together, one on top of the other but I find the continuous sheet of slippery fabric is the easiest. Speak to the OT. You shouldn't have to buy one in the UK.

I am very naughty what i do is leave a lot of the bottom sheet at the foot end of the bed and when he needs shifting up the bed i get behind the headboard and grab the sheet by the corners and yank him up. Naughty but easy. Janexx

Should imagine there is one available, tho agree in UK, you should not have to buy one.

Here the slip sheet looks like 100% polyester. Works a treat. Have not had to source one tho.

Hi Julie,

Speak to your OT, they can order you a slip sheet.

Good luck.

I did try a slide sheet and found it of no use for one person. I'm using a satin pillow case and justs leave it on the bed , it does the job .i also have a pillow roll behind his back and a small one for between his knees . Hope this helps.

We have the two blue slide sheets which are used by two people , also a smaller orange tubular one . They are not used very often now because we have the ceiling hoists .

I don't know of the slip sheets , is it material . Does that mean you turn the person before laying it into the bed and can you leave under them all the time .

I use a parsons sheet. It is a type of very slippery like parachute material. It is double one layer slides over the other. My husband likes it on length wise. R can roll over by holding the bed rail if on the sheet. Also if on the sheet and you lower the head down and raise his feet as far as you can gravity will slide him up. put pillow under his knees so he won't slip back down when you lower his feet.

Hi Julie, my hubby has has CBD since 2009, and for the past 3 years was using a standing hoist provided by the OT people, it has a sling attached round the body which hooks up to the hoist then using a remote control bring them up to standing, it is very useful for helping to undress etc, then you put them back down onto the bed or chair, if the bed, once unhooked and sling removed, lift legs onto bed, it has been my salvation, unfortunately we have outlived this piece of gold, as Ian cannot hold onto the bar and tends to tilt drastically to one side, and I thought we would tip it over, so we now have a ceiling track & hoist, so do all his washing dressing on the bed then lift into his chair.

It's all about getting the OY people to see how desperate you are, if they think you can manage they will let you struggle, mine are brilliant now they understand the disease, so keep phoning every day

Good luck and let us know 😘
