Our son is taking part in the London2Brighton Challenge this weekend to raise money/awareness for PSP. He is walking from London to Brighton (on the South coast of England), a distance of 100 kilometres or 62 miles over two days.
D is going to join him for a couple of short stretches in his wheelchair. The wheelchair is electric luckily so I won't be pushing! I will have to walk with him and steer though as D can't do that. I think our biggest challenge is going to be driving round South East England on bank holiday Saturday looking for a weary and footsore walker!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing.

Wow! A challenge for all of you Vicki. Wishing your son success and I hope you find him. I don't think you will be walking in scorching heat but hope it stays dry. Thank your son for his efforts in raising awareness of this awful condition.
Well thank you son! and mom and dad who will be joining in! How many Bank Holiday's does the UK have? I do hope you find a place to rest your feet!
Getting B just to the gym is getting ever more eventful, I can't imagine any longer distance!....Hey maybe ya'll should bring an extra wheel chair so you can "drive" and rest at the same time!
AVB - There are six Bank Holidays and two public holidays in England. (Think it's a bit different in Scotland and Wales). Good Friday and Christmas Day were considered to be accepted as rest days anyway when the 'Bank Holidays Act' was passed in 1871 naming four Bank Holidays. New Year's Day and May Day were added more recently.
We don't call them Bank Holidays per se though if there's a holiday, the banks are taking it! We have National and State Holidays and Observances. 11 National Holidays can be observed by all states.....Though to what degree depends on the community ie Christmas and New Years Day schools out. Columbus Day, Washinton's Birthday Martin Luther King Day, school not out (in all states) but we will recognize person celebrated....
Thank you for telling me. Quite interesting how we, no matter where WE are, celebrate in one way or another special days.
