Charlie getting worse

Good morning all, I never thought I would see my husband in a wheelchair but do to him falling so much these past few weeks, he has no choice. Why is it taking so long for someone to make a drug that will work for our loved ones?

Marg it's due to money or lack of it. Most people including doctors have never heard of PSP! Think cancer and the difference there is. It is advertised on TV by cancer charities all the time. On Friday it is Macmillan coffee morning. Everyone I know will go to a coffee morning. I am sure it has taken years to get there but they are on TV and in the papers. You can't be unaware of them? So PSP needs more money and more awareness.

Agree with what you both say, George has been in a wheelchair for the last 18 months, my heart breaks when I see him choking, cried all day today, really sad xxxxx

Yvonne

Have you got a suction machine? If he is choking all day that sounds bad. Maybe you should get the doctor to visit?

We have all machines but Charles is exactly like George, it's EVERY time he eats or drinks.

Sad, sad.

Me too, cry all the time because of the choking and feeling helpless.

Sarah that is true but I have to say not where I am. I was never offered support despite ringing them and telling them what my husband had. It's like we are considered not to need help in this part if the World. The same thing happened with Marie Curie and to some extent with the Hospice! All very odd! I will still support them as they do a good job for those with cancer and in other parts of the country help people who are nearing the end of live. By the way doesn't PSPA have a coffee morning? I know MSA does.

Oh my god I am so sorry Marie I just went to find the article I read and couldn't find it. I think I got confused with Marie Carrie. My sincere apologies. That said I am just sorry you can't get the help whoever it's from. I will definatley look into the PSP coffee morning and if anyone has any information then I would be pleased to hear it. Kind regards Marie xx

Ps will take the post down xx

Sarah

It's alright. We all get confused? I am permanently confused I think!

Sad to say I don't need any help now as I lost my husband in February. It does make me mad however that it was so hard to get help. I am trying to let go of the anger as it won't bring him back?

Take care of yourself.

What is a coffee morning?? Do folks come online at the same time?

Alicia no, people go to a school or some other public place where you pay for a coffee or tea and a slice of cake. In my Grandson's school they also sell raffle tickets and auction large cakes. The money then goes to MacMillan which is a cancer charity here. I went this morning and took a friend along. They usually get the children to sing too. It is a great way to raise money. I have a feeling that PSPA and MSA do it too but not on the same scale and it's not as successful. We could do with something like this though? I might be imagining that PSPA and MSA do coffee mornings?!
